RD. (Randy) Riccoboni is an innovative American-born painter (California, 1960), influenced by his early years living in the Connecticut suburbs of New York City. A self-taught artist, who began painting at age four when he got into his mother's paint-by-numbers. The artist credits encouragement by family and teachers in public school for his drive and inspiration that has led the way to his success as a best-selling author, speaker and inspirational visionary. Today visit his studio 18, located at The Spanish Village art Center, in Balboa Park, San Diego.
Riccoboni’s vibrant and stunning paintings on canvas and paper depict his travels and local interest. Subjects include California landscape, cityscape, portraiture, street-scenes, public events, and everyday happenings and friends. Beautiful coastal and and San Diego city scenes are here in the Historic La Valencia Hotel. With a style evocative of the Impressionists and a palette derived from bold and vibrant colors Riccoboni‘s internationally recognized work represents community and a sense of place in a positive and life affirming manner. A California native who captures the spirit of San Diego in his effervescent portrayals of local scenes, Riccoboni has been described as “a cultural heritage storyteller in paint” who often depicts historic sites to promote and visually preserve them. Riccoboni say's - "What drives and inspires me is a passion for forward thinking. I pick up on the positive and beautiful vibrations of color, contrast, perspective and spirit that surround our daily lives and create art with a mission that is trail blazing for others artists and non-artists. I hope my artwork will trigger inspiration and happiness in you to create and make the world a better place starting right in our own neighborhoods whether you are the creator, the appreciator or both.
My newest paintings as the ones seen here at La Valencia Hotel are mixed media. I mix media including current digital technology, photography, ink and paint medium to complete my process."
